As of 2017-10-01 we will be ending support for our iOS, Android and Apple TV apps. After this date, although the apps will continue to work and receive alert notifications, they will no longer be available to download and will be officially out of support. As we release product improvements, the apps will not be updated and so may stop working at some point after 2017-10-01.
The primary use case for the mobile apps is receiving alerts but we have found that most customers are using 3rd party alert notification systems such as Slack, PagerDuty, VictorOps or OpsGenie. These products all have mobile apps and analysing the usage of our apps has shown us that they are not widely used and usage has been decreasing over the past 24 months even whilst we were actively maintaining them.
We have reached this decision after several long discussions about where to focus our team and resources. We have released many web UI improvements over the last year such that the product works well on mobile and tablet web browsers. Our dashboard also works well on large TVs and we have recently made multiple optimisations for improvements such as better memory usage. We will continue to invest our time here as well as improving our 3rd party integrations rather than on native apps for each platform.
We also provide a free SMS alert quota for every account which is an alternative to push notifications to our apps. If you need assistance with making mass changes to your alert configs or have any questions about this change, please let us know via email: hello@serverdensity.com
